Grimmandersen Syndrome

                                     2011

“Grimmandersen Syndrome” represents a montage exercise in which different types of media are interposed so to build up a believable story. The narrative construct is similar to a documentary, making use of elements like reconstruction, testimonials and opinions from authorized persons. The story focuses on some mental disorder which is triggered by the sad, depressing, horror fairy tales read in childhood. Can childhood stories like “The Little Match Seller”, “Red Riding Hood” or “Hansel and Gretel” influence negatively somebody’s judgement as far as making him/her mentally ill? It seems so according to “Grimmandersen Syndrome”.

Some fragments from this video were taken from youtube and recontextualised in the montage. The video incipit and the testimonials were my personal creation, with my own cast.
